Preserve Manalapan

Mission Statement

  • To provide important facts and information to fellow residents of Manalapan concerning the proposed development called Manalapan Crossing, and any other potential developments being spearheaded by real estate developers in our town.;

  • We are committed to economic growth in a rational way to keep our taxes stable or lower, respect our environment, reduce government spending, promote less traffic congestion, and maintain/increase homeowners' property values;

  • To inform the residents of Manalapan about proposed real estate developments in any part of the town that are over-sized, highly dense, and could upset the balance between green space and housing.  Such developments present greater risks to the environment, infrastructure maintenance, and quality of life in our town;

  • To create a grassroots campaign aimed at showing citizens how they can get involved and have their voices heard and acted upon by our local elected officials on development and other key local issues affecting the affordability of living in our diverse town.  We also seek to promote a fair, open, transparent and democratic process at public town meetings;

  • To ensure that any proposed development is rational, sustains green space, and promotes a good quality of life with full transparency concerning potential effects on the environment (i.e. water and air quality, open/green space), school population, traffic, taxes, and municipal services expenditures;

  • To preserve the beautiful, rural/suburban character of southern Manalapan, the gateway to Manalapan Township; and to ensure that any proposed development in any part of town is not overly dense or commercialized; and

  • To research, maintain, and share key findings from "cost of community services" studies performed nationally which document that overly dense residential and commercial development actually drives up taxes in towns in addition to lowering the value of property adjacent or nearby to such over-development.
